Function of the Valve Plate

The valve plate is a small but crucial component of a piston pump. It distributes pressurized oil entering the pump body into the various piston bores, thereby ensuring the pump's proper operation. During the pump's operation, pressurized oil entering the body is distributed by the valve plate into the piston bores; under high pressure, the pistons are pushed outward, driving the fluid into the discharge line for output. Once the discharge phase concludes, springs within the pump body retract the pistons, aligning the piston bores with the pressure chamber so that pressurized oil can enter the body again. This cycle allows the piston pump to function continuously.

 

Fluid Distribution Principle of Piston Pumps

The fluid distribution principle of a piston pump involves two stages: oil intake distribution and oil discharge distribution.

Oil Intake Distribution
Oil intake distribution is the first stage, primarily responsible for distributing the pressurized oil entering the pump body into the individual piston bores. This process is facilitated by the valve plate; once distributed by the plate, the oil flows into the respective piston bores. Valve plates come in various sizes and port configurations, allowing for selection based on specific pressure ratings.

Oil Discharge Distribution
Oil discharge distribution is the second stage, primarily responsible for conveying the fluid driven by the pump to the outlet. As a piston extends outward, its corresponding bore aligns with a discharge port, allowing fluid to flow into the port and out into the pipeline. This stage is also managed by the valve plate, with port diameters and quantities determined by the pump's specific model and application.
